gratitude & grief

this week has felt like a vulnerability hangover. gratitude and grief cradled close to your chest. Funny how these two emotions tend to intertwine. It has felt like watching the people you love pour out over the loss of life, of love and try and figure out what to do next with themselves. it has felt like revisiting old emotions and tracing old scars calcified on the body. Like pulling from a place of pain to show up for people who require your peace. It has felt like standing in silent communion till they are ready to talk.

But this week has also felt like wine drunk at 2 in the afternoon with sunny skies and beautiful blond friends. Like working on passion projects and giggling about life. About sitting at a long table full of family and realising this is what makes life just so good. Like watching movies about love from your childhood over and over again and realising they still make you dream. like catching up with friends in your home over warm bowls of soup.

both grateful for all of these moments even knowing that grief was hovering on the edges of it. Life is about balance, all the world comes in pairs. Right and wrong. Yin and Yang. Pleasure and Pain. Gratitude and Grief.
